Frasers Group has increased its stake in the railways models and collectibles group, Hornby, to take its holding to 8.9%.
Hornby’s products are already stocked in Frasers-owned GAME stores.
Frasers, known for its Sports Direct brand which accounts for more than half the group’s revenue, also has stakes in several other retailers that include Asos, boohoo and Currys.
The group’s latest investment in Hornby has seen Frasers acquire over 11.1 million issued shares, taking its total holdings to 15.1 million shares, a figure worth 8.9% of the company’s equity.
CFO at Frasers, Chris Wootton, said that the group has a “vision to build the planet’s most admired and compelling brand ecosystem”.
“Hornby’s portfolio of unique heritage brands are already part of GAME’s product offer and we look forward to exploring opportunities to further leverage our scale in retail logistics and distribution,” Wootton commented “This is consistent with our strategy of pursuing strategic interests to enhance value for all stakeholders."
CEO of Hornby, Olly Raeburn, added: “Frasers has built a powerful ecosystem through its brand partners, scaled shared services, and distribution channels.
“We have long admired their approach to merchandising and logistics and welcome them as a supportive shareholder. We look forward to exploring commercial opportunities in working together to unlock the full potential of Hornby’s much-loved brands.”
