Aptitude Software appoints tech veteran as CFO after long search

Finance software provider Aptitude Software has appointed technology industry veteran Kenneth Paqvalén as CFO and executive director, filling a vacancy that has existed since February 2025

Paqvalén will join the board on 21 September as the London-listed company looks to accelerate growth around its flagship Fynapse Finance ERP platform. The appointment fills a role that has been vacant since former CFO Mike Johns stepped down during restructuring efforts in 2025.

Aptitude said Paqvalén brings more than two decades of experience helping international software and technology companies scale through periods of growth, fundraising and mergers and acquisitions. His previous roles include CFO positions at regtech specialist Napier AI, digital assets technology company R3 and cloud data platform provider Matillion.

Headquartered in London, the FTSE 250 firm develops software that helps large enterprises automate accounting, reporting and finance operations. The group is increasingly focused on Fynapse, its AI-native finance ERP platform, which is designed to provide finance teams with real-time, auditable financial data.

Aptitude reported 2025 revenue of £65m, with recurring revenue accounting for 83% of the total, while adjusted operating profit rose to £10m. The company ended the year with £29.6m of cash and net funds of £21.2m.

Alex Curran, CEO of Aptitude Software Group, said: "Kenneth brings extensive financial leadership experience and a strong commercial focus, which will be highly valuable as we continue to scale Fynapse and the Finance ERP opportunity."

Paqvalén added: "I am excited to be joining Aptitude at such an important stage in its journey. The Group has a differentiated platform in Fynapse, a strong and growing customer base, and a clear opportunity in the emerging Finance ERP category."
