MJ Gleeson announces CFO succession

MJ Gleeson has announced that its CFO, Stefan Allanson, has advised the board of his intention to step down from the board after 11 years in the role.

As part of its succession process, the housebuilder and strategic land promoter has appointed Andrew Kirkman to succeed Allanson as CFO and as a director, effective 19 October.

Kirkman has had an extensive career in senior financial roles, having qualified as a chartered accountant in 1996 and spending six years in investment banking.

He joins from the commercial property group, CLS Holdings, where he worked as CFO, and has also worked as CFO at firms including Harworth Group, Viridor and Balfour Beatty Investments.

Allonson will formally step down from the board on 16 October and will remain available to ensure an orderly handover.

CEO at MJ Gleeson, Graham Prothero, said: "On behalf of everyone at MJ Gleeson, I would like to say 'thank you' to Stefan and to recognise the significant contribution he has made to the business over the last eleven years. He has been a steadfast CFO to three CEOs in that time and helped to steer the business through some of the most turbulent periods the housebuilding sector has had to endure. We wish him all the very best for the future.

"I am delighted to welcome Andrew to the business. He will bring significant experience gained from over thirty years in senior financial roles across the wider sector. He arrives at MJ Gleeson well-versed in our business and sector and I look forward to working with him."

Kirkman concluded: "I am excited to join MJ Gleeson, a business I have long-admired since previously being based in Sheffield, and look forward to bringing my extensive wider experience to the business."
