Topshop to return to UK high street in 2026

The Topshop and Topman brands will return to the UK high street after the fashion brands agreed a deal with John Lewis.

Through a national partnership starting in February next year, Topshop will be available in 32 John Lewis stores while Topman will be on offer in six.

Topshop closed all its UK high street stores in 2021 when its parent company, Arcadia, went into administration. The Topshop and Topman brands were then bought by Asos although the online fashion retailer last year sold its majority stake in the brands to holding company, Heartland, in a deal worth £135m.

Asos, which still owns a 25% interest in the brands under a joint venture agreement with Heartland, said the move would “blend Topshop and Topman’s fashion-forward identity with the quality and service customers experience at John Lewis”.

Managing director at Topshop, Michelle Wilson, commented: “We’re excited to partner with John Lewis, a trusted name in British retail, to bring Topshop and Topman to high streets across the country.

“This partnership is a key step in our mission to bring the best of fashion to everyone, engaging with shoppers in real life and delivering the style and quality they expect from our brands.”

John Lewis managing director, Peter Ruis, added: “Bringing Topshop and Topman back to high streets across the UK is a landmark moment, and we are thrilled to be their only nationwide store partner.

“It’s the ultimate proof of our strategy: offering the most-loved brands alongside the unwavering trust of our brand promise. I grew up with these incredible brands. They have defined our high streets, bringing edge and accessibility with an iconic British lens.”
